Dartmouth Health Chief Human Resources Officer
Aimee M. Claiborne, DA, MBA, is the chief human resources officer for Dartmouth Health, responsible for leading people strategies that enable quality patient care and operations for the multi-site health system comprised of 6 hospitals, including a leading academic medical center in partnership with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, 30+ clinics and 13,000 caregivers. Most recently, she led the organization to develop a comprehensive strategic workforce plan; focused on modernizing talent retention and attraction strategies in light of the national workforce shortage and effects of the pandemic on healthcare.
With over 15 years of human resources experience, Aimee is a strategic advisor on enterprise talent management, organizational change, leadership development, employee engagement and inclusion, executive compensation and community development. As HR leader for the largest private employer in New Hampshire, her team leads the region’s only healthcare employer-based career school accredited by the state’s Department of Education and Department of Labor accredited health professions apprenticeship training school. She is known for designing and delivering progressive rewards programs and serves leadership consultant to hospital and community partners. She was instrumental in Colby Sawyer College’s pivot to enhancing their school of nursing and new health science curriculum. Prior to her role as CHRO, Aimee served as the vice president of total rewards and directed several HR functions including HR business partners, shared services, workforce analytics and employee health. A key focus area for Aimee and her team is inspiring organizational transformation and becoming the employer of the future.
Prior to joining Dartmouth Health in 2010, Aimee led teams at the New Hampshire Retirement System; the leading retirement benefit provider to municipal and state employees. She also led quality client services to several Fortune 500 companies at Fidelity Investments. Prior to her career in HR, she was a community-based social worker, providing case management and counseling services to psychiatrically acute adults. She has worked in in private, public and non-profit sectors and has focused on developing relationships that inspire positive change.
Aimee serves as a Trustee on the Boards of the Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Vermont and New Hampshire; Colby Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire and West Central Behavioral Health in Lebanon, New Hampshire. She holds a Doctor of Arts in Organizational Health and Leadership from Franklin Pierce University, a Master’s in Business Administration and Bachelors in Social Work. She is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management, American Society of Health Care Human Resources and a governing council member of The Equity Collaborative within the Carol Emmott Foundation. She lives in New Hampshire’s Lake Sunapee region with her family.
