Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP)
Dartmouth Health, thru its wholly-owned subsidiary Dartmouth Health Performance Network, LLC, has been selected to participate as a Medicare Accountable Care Organization (ACO) by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) is an alternative payment model that allows us to continue our commitment to providing value-based care to patients. MSSP will allow us to further our efforts to enhance the quality of your care, increase patient and care team engagement, and reduce the rate of growth in the overall total cost of care. The Shared Savings Program is one more way we continue to accelerate the pace of clinical transformation.
What is Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP)?
MSSP is an alternative payment model that incentivize and reward providers and hospitals who demonstrate value by meeting standards of high quality care that include patient safety and experience, care coordination, and preventative health. Participation in MSSP facilitates a shift from "pay-for-volume" to "pay-for-value" and helps to support Dartmouth Health's clinical transformation initiatives. These initiatives aid in improving patient outcomes and reducing total cost of care. January 2024 marks the first performance period of Dartmouth Health's participation in the Shared Savings Program. Dartmouth Health system members Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital, Cheshire Medical Center, Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinic, Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, and New London Hospital will participate in Dartmouth Health's Medicare ACO.
