Grief is a journey, and gathering together to acknowledge the death of our loved ones is an important reminder that we aren’t alone on that journey.

Nils Fredland, VNH bereavement coordinator

Visiting Nurse and Hospice for Vermont and New Hampshire (VNH), a Dartmouth Health member, invites the community to a non-denominational remembrance event on Saturday, November 16, at 2 p.m. at the Seven Stars Art Center, located at 5126 Route 14 in Sharon, VT. “From Darkness to Light: Remembering Our Lost Loved Ones” will be held in partnership with Revels North, a nonprofit arts organization, and offer an opportunity to honor those lost over the past year through reflection, readings, choral music and a candlelight ritual.

“It is powerful and healing to come together as a community to share grief for our loved ones who have died,” said Nils Fredland, VNH bereavement coordinator. “Grief is a journey, and gathering together to acknowledge the death of our loved ones is an important reminder that we aren’t alone on that journey.”

People who wish to attend are requested to register online, though preregistration is not required. Attendees are invited to bring a small photo of their loved one for inclusion in the community ritual, and community members, attending or otherwise, who wish to have names of loved ones read aloud during the remembrance ceremony may submit the names to Fredland at nfredland@vnhcare.org by November 13 at 5 p.m.

This remembrance event continues VNH’s longstanding tradition of supporting individuals and communities in their grief journeys.
