Dartmouth Health’s Valley Regional Hospital hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, March 12, for its Claremont Addiction Treatment Program (ATP) at 7 Dunning St. The opening of this facility marks an important step in Dartmouth Health’s mission to improve community health through accessible services and treatment for substance use disorder (SUD).

Dartmouth Health’s addiction services department launched in 2006, in the early days of the use of the medication buprenorphine to treat opioid misuse. Expansion of this program into the Claremont area allows improved access to area residents receiving treatment for SUD, who often have limited means of transportation.

“Many people living with addiction recover when they have timely access to science-supported care,” said William C. Torrey, MD, chair of psychiatry at Dartmouth Health. “Recovery from SUD takes human connection and the support of community. That is why I am so excited today to be with the community that has gathered to celebrate the opening of the Claremont ATP.”

“This program will combine the science of addiction care with the human touch of skilled psychiatrists, social workers and peer support specialists, extending services that work, to people living in the Claremont community,” said Dartmouth Health CEO and president Joanne M. Conroy, MD. “The ATP will support families and help people who experience these disorders to find a path to full, active, healthy, lives.”
