Dartmouth Health is among the sponsors of a new art installation at New Hampshire Hospital, commissioned in collaboration with the New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts (NHBCA). The mural, entitled “The Art of Healing,” is located in the staff breakroom of the state-run acute psychiatric hospital in Concord, and was unveiled on Monday, April 29.

Last fall, NHBCA collaborated with hospital staff to select a New England-based artist to create a mural that would help transform the space into an aesthetically pleasing, serene area that promotes self-care and well-being for their community of caregivers. Artist Karen Munday-Lincoln, of Derry, was selected for the project. Munday-Lincoln designed and painted the piece with input from hospital staff who utilize the breakroom. The final product is a serene river scene in a mountain landscape.

Dartmouth Health’s Department of Psychiatry has been contracted by the state of New Hampshire for over 36 years to provide clinical leadership, psychiatric, general medical and psychological services at New Hampshire Hospital.

Other corporate sponsors of the mural include TFMoran, Northeast Delta Dental, Orr & Reno, Lavallee Brensinger Architects, and Baker Newman Noyes.
