Acute Psychiatry Program

The primary goals of the Acute Psychiatry Program are to:

  • Encourage family members to participate in treatment with a focus on education and aftercare planning.
  • Provide a safe, supportive therapeutic environment that assists patients in mental health crises, stabilize and implement a safety plan.
  • Work intensively with patients on their treatment goals and aftercare plan to ensure a quick return to their family and community support.

Components of our Young Adult Psychiatric Program include assessment, education, medication therapy, group therapy, family support and education, as well as aftercare planning:

  • Patients have regular meetings with their providers to review their treatment plan.
  • Psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, nursing staff, and social workers provide education regarding mental illness and treatment to the patient and family members throughout the patient's stay.
  • Group therapy provides a structured program that runs seven days a week, from early morning into the evening. Therapeutic groups provide a variety of educational and solution-focused treatment strategies. We use aspects of dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution-focused strategies.
